Brazil to Host the Philadelphia Eagles’ opener as the NFL ventures into new territory in South America.

The Philadelphia Eagles are set to make history by playing in Brazil during the opening week of the next NFL season, marking South America’s inaugural hosting of a regular-season game.

In addition to the three games scheduled in London and one in Munich for 2024, the league announced its intention to extend its global reach by adding another game to be held at the Corinthians Arena in Sao Paulo.

The Eagles, who were last year’s Super Bowl runners-up, have been selected as the featured team for this historic event in Brazil, slated for September.

This game, confirmed by the NFL, will take place on the Friday night of the opening weekend, a scheduling choice not seen since 1970. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell emphasized the significance of this milestone, stating, “This landmark first international game in South America demonstrates the ongoing expansion of our global footprint.” He further highlighted the unique timing of the game as a way to underscore the league’s international growth and ambitions.

The opponent for the Eagles, similar to other international games, will be announced shortly before the release of the 2024 schedule in the spring.

Following a recent vote by teams, the NFL will have the flexibility to schedule up to eight international games per season starting in 2025, further solidifying its commitment to global expansion.
