Unai Emery’s actions at the end of the recent match left some Newcastle fans upset.

At a point, Unai Emery seemed poised to become the manager of Newcastle United following the PIF-backed takeover. However, for reasons unknown, Emery opted not to join the project, leading to the appointment of Eddie Howe. Despite Emery’s subsequent success in improving Aston Villa, fate seemed to work in favor of Newcastle fans, who, in retrospect, may not have wished for a different outcome.

After witnessing how Emery’s Aston Villa were defeated by Newcastle, any lingering “what if” thoughts among fans may have dissipated. Emery’s actions at full-time, following the humbling of his side, appeared to be a snub that gained attention globally. The incident involved a perceived act of disrespect towards Jason Tindall, highlighting the notion that there are certain things in life one simply does not do, with dissing Mad Dog being one of them.

At the conclusion of the match, as is customary, managers and coaches approached each other for the post-match handshake. However, Unai Emery, after exchanging greetings with Eddie Howe, notably snubbed Jason Tindall, also known as Mad Dog. Tindall approached Emery with a friendly smile and outstretched arm, only to be ignored, leading to an awkward gesture of stroking the chin.

This apparent snub did not sit well with the Toon Army, who promptly labeled Emery as “bitter.” The incident has resulted in a loss of respect for Emery among the fans, and he is now viewed unfavorably. Given the close relationship between Tindall and Howe, which is seen as a double act, Emery’s selective acknowledgment has left a negative impression. It is speculated that this mistake won’t be repeated by Unai Emery, as the fallout from the gesture has likely placed him on the fans’ list of disapproval.
