Offer Verified : Southampton now make fresh bid to sign “fantastic” player after Rothwell – Report..

Southampton have already entered the Premier League market this month, signing central midfielder Joe Rothwell from rivals Bournemouth. According to sources, they have made another move in search of an attacking option from England’s top division, as Russell Martin seeks an advantage in the fight for automatic promotion to the Championship.

Southampton signed Rothwell.

Southampton Director of Football Jason Wilcox announced the Saints’ official website that he has signed midfielder Rothwell on loan until the end of the season. “Joe is a fantastic signing who provides us extra strength and depth in the squad, which will be particularly vital as the season progresses. We’re delighted to be able to bring in a guy with his experience and abilities.”

Meanwhile, similarly thrilled, Rothwell told the club’s website: “I’m grateful to Southampton for enabling me to come here. Hopefully, I can come in and show my experience in this league and help them go across the finish line. I can’t wait to get started and put my boots on, and hopefully we can get the club back where it belongs.”

Following their first acquisition of the month, the Saints quickly turned their attention to another potential recruit. According to journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Southampton has made a second offer for Burnley’s Manuel Benson. The promotion contenders are reportedly pushing hard to recruit the winger, who wants to transfer to St Mary’s on a loan-to-buy basis. Tavolieri commented on X:

Martin’s side is only three points behind second-place Ipswich Town in the Championship, so any assistance will be welcomed if they are to leapfrog Kieran McKenna’s side in the coming months.

“Fantastic” Benson can duplicate Burnley’s success at Southampton.

After playing a key role in Burnley’s Championship title success last season, Benson may yet be given the opportunity to demonstrate his difference-making ability in the second tier with Southampton. Benson’s Championship stats speak for themselves, with 12 goals and three assists indicating a man at the top of his game last season. After struggling to adjust to the Premier League and making only four games this season, the winger may now be as important to Southampton as they are to him.

Vincent Kompany summed up Benson’s quality with his compliments following the Belgian’s goal against Bristol City last season. The Clarets manager stated:

“He needs to score five in a row.” It is not a coincidence; it is a skill he possesses. It’s similar to a striker being able to pull off to the back post and head the ball in. I can’t give advice on how to deal with him, but it’s just what he’s done since he was a child. I’m still pressing him for tap-ins; I want them. In the end, it’s something he feels comfortable doing, and he’ll achieve his goals that way. “What he’s done for us is fantastic, and that’s all we want.”
