The FIA has established a new relationship with the International Esports Federation aimed at combating online abuse, particularly in the sport.

The agreement, signed in Busan, South Korea, would construct effective “frameworks” in reaction to abuses in the form of clear instructions for stakeholders, as well as develop instructional programs for rivals and supporters to ensure compliance with best practices.

This is part of President Mohammed Ben Sulayem’s United Against Online Abuse initiative, which hopes to attract support from organizations such as FIFA, the International Olympic Committee, and World Athletics.

“We deeply appreciate IESF’s support as we move forward with our mission to combat online abuse in sports,” stated Mohammed Ben Sulayem.

« IESF positions itself as an important partner, exemplifying connectedness and inclusivity through esports and the digital sphere. We are resolved, through partnership and action, to pave the road for a safer and more respectful online environment for everybody.

Boban Totovski, IESF Secretary General, said: “The process of building and developing the Esports ecosystem requires continuous commitment and dedicated partners, and I would like to take this opportunity to announce our new partnership with FIA, an organization that shares the same values as IESF and is eager to participate and contribute to the long process of establishing a sustainable Esports platform.”
