West Brom officials urge caution as Carlos Corberan push hard for the 23-year-old to return..

After missing eight months due to injury, Carlos Corberan, the West Brom manager, is optimistic Daryl Dike will be able to play against Leeds United.

In January 2022, Dike joined West Brom, joining them six months after his productive loan stint at Barnsley. The strong American striker has experienced setbacks during his stay at The Hawthorns, the most recent of which was an eight-month layoff brought on by an achilles rupture.

Recently, the 23-year-old returned to training, and Corberan expressed his optimism that Dike will make a comeback.

The West Brom manager, who was cited by the Express and Star, stated he will fight for the striker to return, even though he understood the medical staff would probably object. He declared:

“Let’s see how the training goes tomorrow. I 100% guarantee that if I push my medical staff, they will push me back!

The report further states that because of Dike’s extended absence and ongoing injury issues with the Baggies, the medical and fitness department has been advising care.

Being cautious
Corberan’s desire for Dike to return is understandable. Having some choices at the top of the pitch will delight him, as his strong presence at the top of the pitch has made him a genuine handful in the Championship in the past. This season, striker options have been fairly restricted.

Nevertheless, it makes sense for West Brom to gradually get the striker back into the game and only do so when he has fully recovered. It might be advisable to go back to training and increase his workload by making appearances off the bench.

Though he is excited about Dike’s impending comeback to Championship football, Corberan will undoubtedly comply with whatever the medical professionals at The Hawthorns decide to do.

Dike has seven goals for West Brom in 27 appearances. He has played in 44 Championship games for the Baggies and Barnsley, scoring 16 goals and dishing out one assist.
