Man United star admits, “I would go crazy,” following a pivotal moment in the decisive victory over Aston Villa

On Boxing Day, Erik ten Hag witnessed his team rally from a 2-0 deficit to triumph 3-2 in an incredible match.

Manchester United’s victorious opponent Rasmus Hojlund acknowledged that if he had paid attention to any of the chatter surrounding his wait for his first Premier League goal, he would have gone insane.

On Boxing Day, the Dane completed an incredible comeback at Old Trafford as the home team overcame a 2-0 deficit to defeat Aston Villa 3-2 and provide Erik ten Hag with some much-needed Christmas cheer.

The £72 million striker’s first league goal came from a crisp left-footed finish; all of his goals this season have come since United’s humiliating Champions League exit. On the other hand, Hojlund dismissed the notion that making his Premier League debut relieved him of a significant burden.

“Not at all,” he remarked. “All I do is try to keep my eyes on the ball and concentrate on my game.” Naturally, I’m relieved to have scored my first goal in the Premier League, but I haven’t exactly been without goals—I’ve scored five in the Champions League. I was therefore quite thrilled, and my celebration shows how relieved I felt.

“I try not to give the media too much attention. My mind would spin out of control if I tried that. I simply try to concentrate on my technique and get better every day on the training field. The effort is worthwhile.

Even though United has had difficulty scoring goals this season, Hojlund seems unconcerned about who plays next to him in what has mostly been a front three. After struggling for consistency this season, Marcus Rashford returned to the team against Villa, and eight minutes from time, Alejandro Garnacho scored twice to set up Hojlund’s historic moment at Old Trafford.

He declared, “I want to say I don’t care who I am playing with.” We all represent Manchester United, so I believe we each have unique abilities. We need to find each other and create, whether I’m playing with Rashy, Garnacho, Antony, or whoever is on the wings or in position No. 10. I enjoy playing with each of them. I am merely a fortunate man.
