Alabama and Duke fans have reacted to a significant announcement regarding Mark Sears, who has been a standout player for the Alabama Crimson Tide during their impressive NCAA Tournament run. Alabama made it to the Elite Eight, securing victories over BYU, Saint Mary’s, and Robert Morris before falling to the top-seeded Duke Blue Devils.
After the season concluded, Alabama’s official social media page celebrated a major achievement for Sears. He has been named one of the Top 5 candidates for the prestigious Wooden Award, which honors the best player in college basketball.
“Wooden Award All-American,” the post read. “Congratulations to Mark Sears for being named a Top 5 candidate for the Wooden Award.”
Sears is up for the award alongside Auburn’s Johni Broome, Duke’s Cooper Flagg, Purdue’s Braden Smith, and Florida’s Walter Clayton Jr.
The game against Duke marked the end of Sears’ college basketball career, as it was his final game after two seasons at Ohio and three seasons at Alabama.
