ESPN Shows the Duke Blue Devils’ Position Among the Other NCAA Tournament Teams
The Duke Blue Devils defeated the Arizona Wildcats 100-93 on Thursday night, advancing to the Elite Eight. With eight teams remaining in the 2025 NCAA Tournament, ESPN has disclosed Duke’s standing in the competition. To start, the Blue Devils dominated the Baylor Bears and Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers, coasting through the first two rounds. Arizona presented them with a far greater task, as was to be expected, but star player Cooper Flagg led his side to victory, earning his head coach Jon Scheyer some audacious accolades.
Scheyer remarked, “That’s one of the best tournament performances I’ve ever coached or been a part of,” following Flagg’s 30 points, seven assists, and six rebounds to lead Duke. Due to their advancement to the Elite Eight, Duke is currently ranked among the best teams in the country. As they get ready for their next game against the Alabama Crimson Tide, ESPN continues to feel that the Blue Devils are the best team still in the tournament.
Myron Medcalf of ESPN explained his decision to rank Duke as the top team remaining in the tournament by saying, “At this point in the tournament, the remaining teams in the field might have to come together and make one super team to beat Duke, which has six NBA prospects, including three projected lottery picks.” Duke is putting in a lot of effort in the tournament since the winner of their next matchup will go to the Final Four, where they will play either the Tennessee Volunteers or the Houston Cougars. On Saturday, March 29, the Blue Devils’ eagerly awaited matchup with the Crimson Tide is set to begin at 8:49 p.m. ET.
