The Arizona Wildcats vs. Duke Blue Devils game has been postponed because
Cooper Flagg wanted to be clear that he dislikes comparisons.
“I don’t really compare myself to anybody,” Flagg said during a news conference on Wednesday prior to Duke’s game against Arizona in the Sweet 16. “I just try and be my own player.”
However, Flagg doesn’t dismiss the comparison right away, despite it being made.
Flagg welcomes the mention of Celtics great Larry Bird, at least in terms of an emotional lift.
“I grew up watching old Larry Bird videos and stuff like that, the ’85, ’86 Celtics team and their championship that year,” Flagg stated. “Obviously, hearing people say that is really awesome. It’s a huge compliment and gives me a lot of confidence since he’s a legend.”
Growing up in New England, Flagg was undoubtedly surrounded by Celtics legend. Bird is undoubtedly one of the best players of all time.

Flagg can get there, according to some. Like Bird at Indiana State, he would first like to qualify for a national championship game, but he would like to lose and win it instead.
Duke will play Arizona in the Sweet 16 on Thursday in an attempt to chop down the nets and win four more games.
Flagg, a unique talent who does at the same time resemble so many of the all-time greats, will be leading the way.
“This is just something I dreamed about ever since I was a little kid,” Flagg said. “These are the moments that I imagined myself being in when I was in the driveway, things like that. Just a surreal feeling to be here in these moments and have these opportunities.”
