Former Bronco Von Miller is leading a foursome of well-known players at the 2025 NFLPA Classic, which is taking place at the El Camaleón Golf Course at Mayakoba in Riviera Maya, Mexico. This week, Courtland Sutton, Brett Rypien, and Brandon McManus will join Miller’s team.
Miller appeared Tuesday morning on the Up & Adams show to discuss the golf tournament, which is being played for the third time, with host Kay Adams.
He discussed the Denver Broncos, free agency, and his golf game on the show.
As he enters his 15th season in the NFL, the veteran also stated that he doesn’t want to experience the agony of defeat like he did with Denver from 2016 to 2021. When discussing which team he might end up on, he stressed the value of winning games without using the word “contender.”
The Denver Broncos demonstrated that they are a different team from the one they were in previous years after making it to the playoffs in 2024 for the first time since Miller raised the Pete Rozelle Trophy.
Miller, one of the best defenders to ever wear the orange and blue and the MVP of Super Bowl 50, was cut by the Buffalo Bills earlier this month, making him a free agent this offseason. He won another Super Bowl with the Los Angeles Rams after being traded from Denver in 2021, and then he inked a big contract with the Buffalo Bills. Buffalo released him a few weeks ago after determining that the contract was not worth their time due to an ACL tear in 2022 and a suspension this past season.
Would it make sense for Miller and the Broncos to get back together? With 63 sacks, Denver’s pass rush was by far the best in the league during the previous season. The team is also full of young players who are just starting out, including Jonathan Cooper and Nik Bonitto. From a leadership standpoint, Miller’s presence would be extremely beneficial to this room, but if the number is off, Denver will have a difficult time making it happen. The team still has more than $17 million in 2025 cap space, but that money should be used to fill more critical roster gaps rather than at outside linebacker.
Despite missing the majority of the 2023 season while recovering from an ACL tear, Miller had 14 sacks in his three years with the Bills. He bounced back well in 2024 and demonstrated that, even though he may not be the same player who led the Carolina Panthers to the MVP award in the Super Bowl, he can still make a valuable contribution to a team in a less significant capacity.
While it would be a good story for Miller to be back in Denver, other contenders that desperately need help at outside linebacker could fork over more money than Broncos general manager George Paton would be willing to offer to Miller. For now, he’s focused on the links today and tomorrow as he hits the course with his Broncos-themed foursome.
