With a SO victory, the Colorado Avalanche avoid catastrophe against the Canadiens.
After blowing a 4-1 lead against the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday night, the Colorado Avalanche were saved by crucial defensive plays.

In a 5-4 shootout victory over the Montreal Canadiens on Saturday, the Colorado Avalanche were on the point of complete collapse after blowing a 4-1 lead.

With two points from Brock Nelson, the Avs took a 4-1 lead. The catastrophe occurred when the Avalanche was under cruise control. The game was tight because the Canadiens scored 30 seconds apart. The Avs handed up the equalizer after appearing to hold on despite the squandered lead.
Nelson helped the Avs defeat the Habs and salvage the victory and two points after overtime failed to resolve the issue.

Now, if I didn’t draw attention to the elephant in the room, I would be negligent. A non-playoff club defeated the Colorado Avalanche 4-1. Although they now occupy the Eastern Conference’s last wildcard slot, the Canadiens aren’t exactly a serious contender—at least not this season.

The Colorado Avalanche averted a major crisis by pulling out a 5-4 shootout win against the Montreal Canadiens.

Even though it would be unjust to minimize the Canadiens’ spectacular comeback, the Avs simply cannot afford to let up, no matter who they face. Unexpected problems, like the avoided catastrophe versus the Canadiens, might arise from failing to treat every opponent with respect.
