Breaking: The Phillies make a historic move by suing a division rival.

For the past 12 months, Taijuan Walker has been the scourge of Philadelphia Phillies supporters. In Wednesday’s 9-7 loss to the visiting New York Yankees, the seasoned right-hander reverted to his old, comfortable routines following an early spring tease.

Walker’s fourth start of the spring required him to do one thing with his final two-year, $36 million deal. In order to fulfill a couple key goals, he needed to get through another start after seeming decent in his Grapefruit League play. Rather, he collapsed on BayCare Ballpark’s mound.

The Phillies now have all the motivation they need to move on after Taijuan Walker.
You might want to avoid looking at his last phrase of the day if you’re feeling queasy. With two walks and only one strikeout, he allowed six earned runs on nine hits, including three home runs, in 3 2/3 innings.

After 13 spring innings, he has a 6.92 ERA, 1.69 WHIP, six strikeouts, four walks, and an astounding six home runs.

Rebuilding the supporters’ faith would have been greatly aided by one more strong performance. Putting him in the bullpen to begin the season probably would have given the Phillies a little more comfort. The front office could have been able to move him to a team in need of pitching, like the Yankees, if he had made one more mediocre start, which would have increased his trade worth slightly.

However, things fell apart in the third inning after surviving the first two with just two hits. Top prospect Jasson Domínguez began the scoring with a double at 108.8 mph, but Jazz Chisholm Jr. took him deep.

Mar 19, 2025; Clearwater, Florida, USA; Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Taijuan Walker (99) throws a pitch during the first inning against the New York Yankees at BayCare Ballpark.

As usual, Walker’s shenanigans were met with a short fuse by Phillies supporters, including those who were enjoying a leisurely spring training vacation in Clearwater. The boobirds emerged at once.

Walker’s situation did not improve in the fourth inning, regrettably. To make it 4-0, Journeyman Pablo Reyes (who?) scored a solo goal. In 521 MLB at-bats, Reyes has eight career long balls.
