BREAKING: St. Louis Cardinals Star Wide Receivers Have Reportedly Agree To 4 Years Contract Extension With The Term
With his most recent failure, Cardinals pitcher Sonny Gray’s terrible spring training continues.
In 2025, the St. Louis Cardinals will embark on a reconstruction. They may end up finishing last in the NL Central since they failed to strengthen their areas of weakness this summer. They have several veterans who might be dealt for starting pitchers, which is one of those positions. Sonny Gray’s terrible spring training for the Cardinals isn’t helping his trade stock. Katie Woo of The Athletic has the stats from Sunday’s lackluster showing.
Woo said on social media, “That is about as rough as it gets for a spring outing for Sonny Gray.” In the fourth inning, Gray is lifted with one out for the third consecutive [roll-over] inning. In addition to throwing 72 pitches, he was tagged for seven errors. This spring, he has allowed six home runs in 9 1/3 innings. It hasn’t looked good.
Gray has only tossed 9.2 innings while making three starts for the Cardinals throughout spring training. In those outings, he has given up 15 runs on 16 hits. Gray has not benefited from manager Oliver Marmol’s attempt to employ the roll-over inning rule. In a spring game, it is when a pitcher leaves the game in the middle of an inning but returns to begin the following one.
