Breaking: Done Deal. Chargers Land Major Commitment From Top Rated 5 Star Prospect

During this free agency era, the Los Angeles Chargers have been strangely silent. They have a well-respected head coach, competitive club status, and cap space to spend as they like. So why do they not spend money? Is there a reasonable response to that?

To put it briefly, I couldn’t tell you. However, I can explain why the offensive line has received zero attention in free agency thus far and is probably going to continue to receive little attention in the future.

The Chargers’ Reasons for Not Using Any Cap Space on an Offensive Line
As of this writing, March 14, 2025, at 3 PM PST, the Chargers have not signed any outside players.

free agency with offensive line coverage. With 56~ million in effective cap space, the Chargers rank fourth in the NFL, according to Over The Cap.
Why are the Chargers, who believe that the offensive line is a weapon as well, so cheap when it comes to paying outside free agents to play for their line when they have so much money and a hole the size of the sun on the interior offensive line?
This club, coached by Jim Harbaugh and Greg Roman, places a high importance on offensive line stability. Many of the Chargers offensive line group’s problems during the 2024 season are thought to be resolved with more group practice, which would improve their communication skills. Chargers Offensive Line

The “tea leaves” demonstrate what they have and have not done so far during this era of free agency. Re-signing center Bradley Bozeman to a two-year contract was one of the Chargers’ initial free agency decisions, leaving Chargers supporters deeply dissatisfied and hoping he is still replaced.

Regarding the other move—or lack thereof—they did not cut Trey Pipkins III, who struggles terribly to make the switch from tackle to guard yet is compensated as an elite level guard. Given that left guard Zion Johnson is still bound by his rookie contract and that those two are staying, it appears that this interior has a good chance at winning it back in 2025.
