Oli Marmol of the Cardinals provides a positive injury update for Jordan Walker.
Jordan Walker, an outfielder with the St. Louis Cardinals, departed the game Tuesday due to left knee soreness during spring training. Walker had two new evaluations: one on Wednesday morning and one on Tuesday evening. On Wednesday afternoon, Cardinals manager Oliver Marmol gave the reporters an update, stating that the outfielder’s knee is structurally fine.

Walker was selected by the Cardinals in the first round of the 2020 MLB draft. The 6’6″ right-handed hitter, who was chosen straight out of Decatur High School in Georgia, made his major league debut in 2023. During his rookie season, Walker played in 117 games and hit 16 home runs while slashing.276/.342/.445.
The 22-year-old, however, epitomized the term “sophomore slump” in 2024. Walker was in the lower leagues for more than half of the previous season. Walker hit just.201 in 51 games for St. Louis, recording 178 plate appearances, 50 strikeouts, and a 71 OPS+. In 2024, the young player’s batted ball stats also suffered. Walker’s groundball % rose from 46.9 to 50, while his line drive percentage decreased from 25.2 to 18.1.
