New York Rangers Analyst Links Rangers To Star $77.7 Million Superstar In Blockbuster Trade

In a blockbuster trade, a New York Rangers analyst links the Rangers to a $77.7 million superstar.

One expert wants to see the New York Rangers take a risk, even while they are fighting for a postseason berth.

According to NHL expert Arthur Staple of The Athletic, Mikko Rantanen might make sense as a trade partner for the Rangers. Staple thinks New York is one of the few clubs that may persuade the Carolina Hurricanes to make the move, and the Hurricanes are currently considering bids.

Only a few clubs are able to pay the Canes’ asking price, which, according to a league source, is for young players who can start right away. Rantanen could only be persuaded to sign an extension by a select few organizations, Staple wrote. One is probably the Los Angeles Kings. Without a doubt, the Rangers are another.

Rantanen is now in the latter year of a $55.5 million, six-year contract. On July 1, he will become a free agent. Even though Carolina only acquired him in January, he has been speculated to be back on the trade block since the Hurricanes have no guarantee that he would re-sign.

The Carolina Hurricanes have assessed the market ahead of Friday and are deciding whether to keep Rantanen, try to go on a playoff run, and probably watch him depart after being rejected on an eight-year contract offer after their major acquisition of him from the Colorado Avalanche six weeks ago.
In 61 games this season, Rantanen has scored 27 goals and provided 43 assists for 70 points.

New York RangersAnalyst Discusses Rantanen’s Possible Trade Package
If the Hurricanes decide to sell Rantanen, they will demand NHL players because Carolina is guaranteed a postseason berth.

According to Staple, the Rangers have what it takes to sign Rantanen. The expert thinks they have what it takes to execute the deal.
