The Rangers have to avoid one trade and make one at the deadline.

This terrible season might be turned into a success tale by the New York Rangers. There is a log jam of clubs fighting for the wildcard places as the Eastern Conference playoff battle heats up.

With the trade deadline approaching on March 7, the Rangers are in a difficult situation. Will they sell their expiring contracts and hope for the best, or will they make a bold move by trading for some experienced talent? With Saturday’s sale of Jimmy Vesey and Ryan Lindgren to Colorado in exchange for Calvin de Haan and Juuso Parssinen as well as some draft compensation, the celebration has already begun.

There are a few important factors to think about, including the one practical transaction they must make and the one trade they must frantically avoid before the deadline. Let us examine them.

The Agreement to Sign
I’ll say it again: the Rangers need to move Matt Rempe before the deadline. Jimmy Vesey, one of their fourth-line grinders, was just transferred, but they shouldn’t stop there. At the end of the year, Rempe will be a free agent, so now is the moment to maximize his return.

Therefore, it is hard to anticipate the prospective return. You must truly assess Rempe’s effect on the ice by looking at all the other factors, such as hitting and aggression, as he is a player who is frequently not visible on a scoreboard. Moving Rempe to a different club, particularly one that is searching for his player type, would not be difficult in preparation for the next playoffs.

The Avoidable Trade
K’Andre Miller is the only defenseman the league is targeting now that Ryan Lindgren has been sent off. It is uncertain whether the Rangers will retain him since his contract is set to expire at the end of the year. It could be time to make a long-term commitment to investing in Miller.
For Miller, this year has been difficult. The fan base has been furious with him for his erratic defensive and offensive play. He still has a long career ahead of him and is a strong defenseman. After one poor season, there’s no need to fire him just yet.

Miller should be in the first defensive pairing with Adam Fox going forward, thus the Rangers should not consider any offers for him. The Rangers front office and general manager Chris Drury may have made the correct decision in moving Lindgren and maybe keeping Miller.
