JUST IN: Braves Receive Positive Injury Update For Nacho Alvarez Jr.
On Feb 27 Atlanta Braves’ infielder Nacho Alvarez Jr. exited the game in noticeable pain, but he may be returning to play sooner than expected. During the 2024 season injuries plagued the Braves organization one after another. It only took a week of Spring Training for injury to impact the Braves’ roster yet again. Alvarez had one at bat on Feb 27 in the Braves’ Spring Training matchup against the Nationals where he produced no hits and exited the game with obvious discomfort. The Braves then tweeted on X notifying fans and media that the third baseman was withdrawn from the game due to soreness in his left wrist.
Alvarez was replaced on 3rd base by José Devers for the remainder of the game. The Braves ended up narrowly beating the Nationals 4-3. Less than 48 hours later excellent news concerning Alvarez’s status came. MLB.com’s Mark Bowman tweeted on X early on March 1 stressing that Alvarez’s condition was improving and that the infielder stated he was going to be able to return to play within the following week.
The young infielder, who will be 22 this year now is one of the top prospects for the Braves this season, despite his difficult MLB debut in the 2024 season. Alvarez has participated in three Spring Training games this season going 0-6 with one walk and two strikeouts. He likely won’t make the Opening Day roster but is a growing prospect to help the Braves replace Orlando Arcia if he keeps healthy.f
