BREAKING: Cardinals All-Star Willson Contreras Delivers 9-Word Message Of Potential Historic Season

Cardinals All-Star Sends A 9-Word Message About A Possible Historic Season

Willson Contreras, an All-Star for the St. Louis Cardinals, will play a new role for the NL Central Club this season. The veteran catcher is being moved to first base by the Cardinals. Contreras’ position shift follows a season in which he played just 84 games because of a number of ailments. As the Cardinals attempt to recover in 2025,

it is hoped that this move to first base will enable him to maintain his health and contribute more significantly at the plate. Contreras gave a nine-word statement about his position shift to John Denton of MLB.com:

“I have plenty of time to do everything now.” Denton was informed by Contreras that his confidence at the plate has increased since moving to first base. He said that he no longer needs to deal with the additional duties of being a catcher and can devote more time to honing his skills. When it comes to generating offense at the plate, Contreras could undoubtedly benefit from this. In addition,

Contreras made a joke about having a record home run season after putting on 12 pounds of muscle in preparation for the position change. “I told Denton, ‘I’m going to hit 62 [home runs] this year,’ while I was making jokes with my brother,” Contreras said.

Cardinals to Move Willson Contreras to First Base After Nine Years Behind the Plate

“It’s only a joke. I’m not thinking about any numbers. I’ll accept whatever is offered to me.” With this shift to first base, it will be interesting to watch what type of season Contreras has at the plate. Even though 62 home runs is a lot to strive for, he could be able to surpass his current career high of 24, which he hit with the Chicago Cubs in 2019.
