Former Duke basketball assistant Hubie Brown gives emotional last broadcast to finish historic career

At the age of 91, former Duke basketball assistant Hubie Brown gave the final broadcast of his legendary career during Sunday’s Milwaukee Bucks 135-127 victory over the Philadelphia 76ers.

After serving as an assistant coach at William & Mary for a season, Brown was promoted to assistant coach at Duke in 1968. He helped recruit Duke greats like Jeff Mullins and Art Heyman throughout his two seasons there till 1972.

Brown made the decision to join the NBA after 1972 and joined the Milwaukee Bucks as an assistant. With Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and Oscar Robertson on the Bucks team, he was the coach in the NBA Finals in 1974.

Later, he was hired as a head coach for the first time.
