Anderson has struggled with every team he has played for, despite having incredible stats with the Rays. Regardless of whether this is a coincidence or a direct result of the Rays system, the Cardinals will give him a chance because of his prior success.
There is also a fascinating history behind the hard-throwing right-hander. Before entering Major League Baseball, Anderson was on a very troubling trajectory. He made some bad choices and ended up being jailed for second-degree assault after using a baseball bat to strike someone over the head in a pub.
