DONE DEAL: Milwaukee Bucks Go All In: Reached The Signing Of Luka Doncic From Dallas Mavericks After Rejecting Contract Deal…$ 362 Million Blockbuster Trade

Additionally, Dalla Mavericks contacted the Timberwolves and Bucks over a potential deal for Luka Doncic.

It seems that the Dallas Mavericks were eager to get out of the Luka Doncic situation. Doncic was traded to the Los Angeles Lakers for a deal that included Anthony Davis and Max Christie because Nico Harrison and Patrick Dumont had the unshakeable belief that they couldn’t win with him as their frontman, even though they had advanced to the NBA Finals the previous season.

It was thought that Nico Harrison had only ever discussed swapping his contract with the Lakers since the transaction.

superstar who is 25 years old. However, it might no longer be the case.

According to NBA reporter Gery Woelfel, the Mavericks reportedly inquired about a potential trade for Doncic with the Minnesota Timberwolves and the Milwaukee Bucks.

It’s easy to determine which players from those clubs would have caught the Mavs’ attention. Giannis Antetokounmpo, a two-time MVP, was the one who helped the Bucks win the NBA championship in 2021. Additionally, Antetokounmpo is good friends with both Mavs coach Jason Kidd and his right-hand man, Sean Sweeney. One source claims that the Mavs made contact with the Bucks. Despite Antetokounmpo’s uncertain future with the franchise, the Bucks made it plain to the Mavs that they would not move him. Regarding the Timberwolves, it seems sense that their rising 23-year-old star, Anthony Edwards, would have been a part of any possible trade between the Mavs and Timberwolves.

Jason Kidd had previously seen Antetokounmpo perform once, and the “Greek Freak” had performed for him. Antetokounmpo developed as a player and ball-handler during that period, despite the fact that they didn’t have much success—they only made the playoffs twice and lost in the first round each time. If they don’t win a title soon, there’s also some conjecture that he would try to leave Milwaukee. Antetokounmpo would have been a better fit in Dallas than Anthony Davis, and it’s strange that Milwaukee didn’t discuss the possibility of making that move in greater detail.

Conversely, Minnesota would not have made much sense. They had recently defeated by Dallas in the Western Conference Finals the previous year. They discovered last year that, even if they were to get a player of Anthony Edwards’ talent, he is still not nearly ready to compete in the postseason on par with Doncic or even Kyrie Irving. However, it would have been preferable to take a risk on a 23-year-old Edwards rather than trade for Anthony Davis, who was unable to play more than three complete quarters before being hurt.
