Done Deal: Vancouver Canucks Confirm The Commitment Of And Another Star

In an intriguing trade proposition, the Montreal Canadiens, who have been on a hot streak, are strengthening their attack.

Users may make their own trades using the PuckGM tool on the website PuckPedia. One user suggested a trade in which J.T. Miller would be acquired by the Canadiens from the Vancouver Canucks.

Miller would be acquired by Montreal in exchange for two NHL players and two draft selections that the team had already obtained in trades, making the proposed transaction intriguing.

Miller is now in the second year of a $56 million, seven-year contract with the Canucks. Because of his conflict with Elias Pettersson, the star forward has been the subject of trade speculations. Miller would support Montreal’s attack and be a top-line player. He has skated in 28 games this season, scoring 25 points with 6 goals and 19 assists.

Vancouver would receive two selections, including a first, in exchange. Matheson is a significant component of the return, though, since the Canucks desperately need defensive support. Matheson’s eight-year, $39 million contract is currently in its seventh year. He has skated in 27 games, scoring 20 points with two goals and 18 assists.

The 20-year-old Beck, who has been playing in the AHL, may be a depth forward for the Canucks. This season, the former second-round selection has skated in 32 games, scoring 7 goals, 15 assists, and 22 points.

Miller’s fielding offers from the Canucks
With Miller and Pettersson having a public feud, both names have come up in trade talks.

Elliotte Friedman, an NHL source for Sportsnet, stated that the Canucks are considering offers for both players since they may be traded

Montreal Canadiens

Friedman stated on Saturday Headlines that the Canucks are “definitely, definitely looking at the market for both players and you should be prepared for all outcomes.” “There are actually three possible outcomes: either neither of them is dealt, one of them is dealt, or both are dealt. That is a possibility. All three of those scenarios are feasible, though I don’t want to forecast their possibility.

The Canadiens deal makes sense since the Canucks will want NHL players in exchange. In addition to a top defenseman and a young forward who can play NHL minutes in the last stretch, Vancouver would receive two draft selections.

At Deadline, Canadians may be both buyers and sellers.
One of the NHL’s most popular teams has been Montreal. The Canadiens could end up becoming buyers at the trade deadline as a result.

The Montreal Gazette’s Stu Cowan, a Canadiens insider, predicts that Montreal will have both buyers and sellers at the deadline.

If the Canadiens are in the running for a postseason berth at the time of the March 7 trade deadline, I believe they might be both buyers and sellers. GM Kent Hughes will undoubtedly be considering trade proposals for Jake Evans, Christian Dvorak, Joel Armia, and David Savard when they become unrestricted free agents on July 1st, according to Cowan.

However, Hughes is probably going to want to add players who can contribute right away to the Canadiens rather than merely seeking out young prospects and/or draft selections in exchange. If Hughes doesn’t re-sign the 28-year-old center by March 7, Evans would be the most valuable player in a deal, Cowan continued. “If offers for the other three players aren’t significant and Hughes believes they can still help the Canadiens in a playoff push the GM might decide to keep them. It will be fascinating to watch how everything turns out.

As of January 4, the Canadiens are 18-18-3 and only one point outside of a postseason berth.
