Four-star quarterback Deuce Knight announced on Wednesday that he has switched his commitment from Notre Dame to Auburn. This decision follows weeks of speculation about his potential change since his original pledge in September 2023. Knight, who is from Mississippi, was a crucial part of Notre Dame’s 2025 recruiting class and is ranked among the Top 50 players by Rivals, On3, and 247 Sports.
Cooper Petagna, a national recruiting analyst for 247Sports, described Knight as “the most polarizing prospect in the class.” He noted that Knight’s physical potential is remarkable, highlighting his 42-inch vertical leap and his background as a state champion with a strong track and field pedigree, including a brother who plays at Indiana. “He checks every box,” Petagna added. At 6’4”, Deuce Knight is regarded as one of the most athletic quarterbacks in the 2025 class. Petagna remarked that if he participated in the NFL scouting combine, he would rank in the top one percent among quarterbacks. He emphasized that Knight’s key challenge is his development as a passer, but based on his impressive performance at the Elite 11 finals, it seems likely he will succeed. “He has shown continuous improvement every time I’ve seen him,” Petagna stated.
