Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Andrei Iosivas is enjoying a successful week.
Not only did the Bengals secure their first win of the season against the Carolina Panthers on Sunday, but Iosivas also won his appeal against the NFL regarding a fine he received for a touchdown celebration in Week 2 against the Kansas City Chiefs. After scoring a touchdown, Iosivas celebrated by pretending to shoot an arrow into the air.

The league initially classified Iosivas’ celebration as a “violent gesture” and fined him $5,305. However, after review, the fine was lifted, leaving Iosivas pleased with the outcome.
“I won the appeal, and I’m really happy about that. I saved a lot of money,” Iosivas said. He explained, “I pointed out that archery celebrations involve shooting arrows into the air. There’s plenty of evidence that it’s not violent. I wasn’t aiming at anyone and had no malicious intent.”
Iosivas isn’t the first player to use the bow-and-arrow celebration; Brandin Cooks, Josh Norman, and Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce have all employed it in the past.
Had the fine not been rescinded, Iosivas had a backup plan for his next celebration. “If they hadn’t taken back the fine, I was going to pretend to pull back the bow and then recoil it. But now that I got my money back, I might hold onto that idea—or maybe still go for it.”If Iosivas maintains his current performance, he’ll likely have more opportunities for celebrations. So far this season, the second-year receiver has accumulated 114 receiving yards and three touchdowns, nearly matching his total from last season, where he recorded 116 yards and four touchdowns. Despite Cincinnati’s early struggles, Iosivas’ growth has been a positive highlight.
