The Kansas City Chiefs, currently one of only two undefeated teams in the NFL alongside the Minnesota Vikings, are facing significant injuries, particularly on the offensive side of the ball. Despite their resilience and strong performances in the early part of the 2024 season, the Chiefs will be without wide receivers Marquise Brown and Rashee Rice for possibly the remainder of the season, along with running back Isiah Pacheco, who is also sidelined for an extended period.
To address the situation, the Chiefs quickly re-signed veteran running back Kareem Hunt to help bolster their backfield. However, Hunt’s availability for the Week 5 game against the New Orleans Saints on “Monday Night Football” is uncertain due to a shoulder injury, leaving him listed as questionable.
Insider Charles Goldman of A to Z Sports noted that the team may be cautious about rushing Hunt back, especially with the impending bye week in Week 6, considering his significant impact on the offense when healthy.
If Hunt is unable to play against New Orleans, the Chiefs will probably rely on Samaje Perine and Carson Steele to handle most of the rushing duties.
The Saints are eager for a victory after losing two consecutive games to the Philadelphia Eagles and Atlanta Falcons, and they recognize that defeating the reigning champions on “Monday Night Football” would make a strong statement.
