INJURY BOOST: Steelers Top Prospect Resumes Training After Lengthy Spell On The Sideline, Expects To Start

PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers may soon have starting left guard Isaac Seumalo back after a three-week absence. For the first time since his injury, head coach Mike Tomlin expressed optimism about Seumalo’s return, indicating that the team could regain a crucial starter on the offensive line.

“Isaac is working his way back into the offensive line. We’ll evaluate his participation this week, and the quality and extent of that participation will guide our decisions,” Tomlin said on Tuesday.

Seumalo has been sidelined for the first three games due to a strained pectoral muscle. He began working off to the side last week, and it seems likely that this week will be the first time he joins team drills since his injury.

If Seumalo is still unavailable, guards Mason McCormick and Spencer Anderson will once again share left guard duties, similar to their rotation against the Los Angeles Chargers this past week. Pittsburgh could benefit from Seumalo’s return to improve a run game that has gained yards in volume but lacks efficiency.Steelers to Continue OL Rotation if Isaac Seumalo Can't Play This Week | YardbarkerThe Steelers currently sit at 30th in rushing success rate. Although they had a strong finish against the Chargers in their 20-10 victory, Tomlin aims for a more fluid offense at the start of games to prevent negative plays. Achieving this could be crucial.
