Miami Heats Top Prospect Opens Up About Being A Victim Of Harsh Treatment.

The rivalry between the Miami Heat and the Boston Celtics may be relatively recent, but it has already produced some intense moments.

Former Miami Heat center Hassan Whiteside recounted a particularly harsh experience he had with Celtics fans during an appearance on The OGs Show. Whiteside described a time when he was verbally attacked by an elderly woman after suffering an eye injury.

“I remember vividly getting my retina scratched and holding my eye,” Whiteside said. “You can’t see properly with a scratched retina. Then I heard someone yell, ‘Stop acting like a [expletive] and play the game!’ I looked up and saw it was a 70-year-old woman. I was in shock, thinking, ‘This can’t be real.’”Mavericks will meet with Hassan Whiteside on July 1, per report - Mavs MoneyballWhiteside’s tenure with the Heat spanned the two most prominent eras in the franchise’s history: the Big Three era and the Jimmy Butler era. During his time with the team, he made a significant impact in the paint, averaging 14.1 rebounds in 2017 and recording 3.7 blocks per game in his second year with Miami. He finished third in the Defensive Player of the Year voting but was placed on the All-Defensive Second Team due to positional constraints.

It’s clear that when Whiteside announced his retirement, he was relieved to be done playing in TD Garden.
