UNBEATEN Rain or Shine (ROS) expects a tough ride when it faces powerhouse San Miguel Beermen in the main game of the PBA Season 49 Governors’ Cup on Thursday at the Ninoy Aquino Stadium.
The Elasto Painters won their first four games and will look to stretch it to five against the Beermen in their 7:30 p.m. encounter.
In the opening game at 5 p.m., TNT shoots for its fourth win and the solo lead in Group A when it tangles with winless Terrafirma (0-3).
“Winning streaks are always temporary,” said Rain or Shine coach Yeng Guiao. “We obviously hope to extend our success for as long as possible.”
“We’re aiming for six wins, as we believe that achieving this will secure our playoff position,” he continued.
However, the passionate Rain or Shine coach acknowledged that the Beermen are a formidable opponent.
Last season, San Miguel defeated Rain or Shine in a sweep during their semifinal series in the Philippine Cup.
Despite this, the Elasto Painters have strengthened their roster with the addition of first-round rookie picks Caelen Tiongson and Frank Lemetti, who have integrated well. Additionally, the returning players from last season have gained valuable experience and are eager to help the team reach the Finals.
