The Cincinnati Bengals welcomed star wide receiver Ja’Marr Chase back to practice on Wednesday after he missed most of the offseason while holding out for a new contract.
Although Chase made a brief appearance at practice last week, his full participation on Wednesday was significant for the Bengals as they prepare for their Week 1 game against the New England Patriots on Sunday.
Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow expressed his excitement about having his top receiver back as the season begins.
“It’s great to have him back,” Burrow told NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport. “We need him to be at our best.”
Burrow also mentioned that Chase is “ready to go” for the season, despite the contract situation still being unresolved.Chase is in the final year of his rookie contract, set to earn a base salary of $1.055 million. The Bengals have exercised his fifth-year option, which keeps him under contract with the team through 2025.
