Raiders Player maker Set For Exit, Admits Sour Relationship With Team And Many More

Since Josh Jacobs left the Las Vegas Raiders to join the Green Bay Packers in free agency this spring, he has been vocal about his experiences with his former team. In a recent interview with Dan Pompei of The Athletic, Jacobs expressed his dissatisfaction with his final season in Las Vegas. “I wasn’t really mentally present or happy there,” Jacobs said, reflecting on his 2023 season, which turned out to be his last with the Raiders. He noted that although he was committed to his teammates, he felt disrespected by the organization.

Jacobs and the Raiders struggled to agree on a long-term contract extension, despite his impressive performance in 2022, where he led the NFL in rushing yards with 1,653. The franchise did not offer him the extension he wanted, and after missing four games in the 2023 season due to injuries, Jacobs became a free agent. When the Packers proposed a four-year, $48 million deal, Jacobs hoped the Raiders would counteroffer, but they did not. “I really didn’t want to leave, but I knew it was over,” Jacobs said, citing a lack of trust during his final year with the team.Raiders: Josh Jacobs has more leverage than you might think - Silver And Black PrideAlthough some Raiders fans were hopeful for his return this offseason, others were ready to move on from him and the controversies that marked his tenure. Jacobs’ occasional cryptic tweets also created some tension with fans. With Zamir White performing well in Jacobs’ absence due to injury, the Raiders felt comfortable moving forward without him. Unless he returns to the Raiders later in his career, Jacobs’ time with the team appears to be over. Despite the turbulent end, he will be remembered as one of the standout running backs in the Raiders’ history, amassing 5,545 rushing yards and 46 touchdowns over his five seasons with the team.
