The Baltimore Orioles have placed first baseman Ryan Mountcastle on the 10-day injured list due to a left wrist sprain, with the move retroactive to Friday. To fill his spot, the Orioles have recalled infielder Livan Soto from Triple-A Norfolk. Mountcastle injured his wrist last Thursday diving headfirst into second base against the Houston Astros and continued playing until the ninth inning as the pain intensified. This season, Mountcastle, 27, has a .265 average with 13 home runs and 61 RBIs over 118 games. In his five-year major league career with Baltimore, he has a .264 average with 91 home runs and 326 RBIs in 557 games. Soto, 24, joined Baltimore via trade in July after a stint with the Cincinnati Reds and has a .325 average with one home run and five RBIs in 12 Triple-A games.
