Newcastle United are said to be contemplating a transfer for Everton striker Dominic Calvert-Lewin as the transfer window nears its close.

After starting the season with a tight 1-0 victory against newly-promoted Southampton last week, Newcastle manager Eddie Howe has been seeking additional reinforcements as the August 30 deadline approaches.
Reports suggest Newcastle remains in contention to acquire Everton’s Dominic Calvert-Lewin this summer. The striker, praised as ‘outstanding’ by Toffees manager Sean Dyche, has been frequently linked with the club, but a deal has not materialized yet.
TBR Football reports that Newcastle continues to show interest in the 27-year-old and is considering making a renewed effort before the impending deadline. Manager Eddie Howe is rumored to be a strong admirer of the striker, who has delivered notable performances at Goodison Park despite facing injury issues.
Calvert-Lewin progressed through the youth system at Sheffield United and had loan spells at Stalybridge and Northampton Town before making his debut with the first team. He joined Everton in the summer of 2016 and has since become a key player for the club.
His most recent contract extension with Everton was signed in 2020, but he is now entering the final year of a five-year deal worth £100,000 per week. Calvert-Lewin’s contract is set to expire in the summer of 2025, so Everton may consider selling him before the transfer deadline to avoid the risk of losing him for free at the end of the season.
