Breaking: Bears Star In Critical Condition, Immobilized On A Stretcher And Taken From Arrowhead Stadium In An Ambulance.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — On Thursday night, Bears cornerback Douglas Coleman III was stretchered out of Arrowhead Stadium and transported by ambulance after a tackle on the Chiefs’ Cornell Powell during the first play of the second half of their preseason game.

The 26-year-old Coleman, who had his head up while rushing to make the tackle near the Chiefs sideline, ended up with his neck bent awkwardly and collapsed upon impact. He remained motionless as trainers from both teams and doctors attended to him, and a medical cart was brought onto the field.

Bears coach Matt Eberflus approached and observed Coleman moving his limbs and giving a thumbs-up while medical staff removed his facemask and secured him to a backboard. Coleman was then wheeled away through the stadium tunnel.

Eberflus noted, “When I was on the field, he was moving his limbs and gave us a thumbs-up, which was reassuring. I don’t have any further details at this time. He’s currently at the hospital being evaluated.”

The Bears went on to win their preseason game 34-21.
