LATEST NEWS : Former Bulldog Anthony Edwards to play for Team USA in Olympics

Anthony Edwards, a former Georgia Bulldog and current Minnesota Timberwolves player, has been selected to compete for the United States of America in the forthcoming Olympic Games in Paris this year.

Edwards, who attended Holy Spirit Preparatory School in Atlanta, was ranked as the nation’s top overall player by 247Sports before he signed with Georgia before to the 2019–20 season. In the history of Georgia basketball, he is the most highly regarded recruit.

Edwards averaged 19 points, five rebounds, and three assists in his lone season with the Bulldogs, which was cut short before the postseason started because of COVID-19. With 610 points in total this season, he ranks sixth among Georgia players in a season and tenth among all SEC freshmen. Following the season, he was awarded SEC Freshman of the Year.

Edwards only played one season at Georgia, but even in that one season, he turned into a walking highlight reel. Perhaps his 33-point explosion in the second half of Georgia’s early-season loss to Michigan State stands out as his most memorable Bulldog performance. By his sixth collegiate game, Edwards had shown to be a serious scoring machine, even if Georgia lost.
