The Kansas City Chiefs will be celebrating all offseason long after defying the odds and repeating as Super Bowl champions.
The Chiefs overcame the San Francisco 49ers in Super Bowl LVIII, a thrilling overtime victory that cemented the franchise’s claim as a dynasty.
Patrick Mahomes continued to make his case as the greatest quarterback of all-time after winning his third Super Bowl MVP award, while Andy Reid climbed up the ranks as one of the greatest head coaches in league history.
Entering the 2024 NFL season, the Chiefs are one of the favorites yet again though the AFC features several teams that will pose a challenge to their hopes of a “three-peat.”
Judy Battista of NFL.com listed which AFC teams are in a position to give Kansas City a run for their money.
“Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals, Buffalo Bills, Houston Texans, Miami Dolphins,” Battista wrote. The Baltimore Ravens still present the biggest roadblock for the Chiefs as they’ve got enough talent and depth on both sides of the field to give them problems.
Meanwhile, teams like the Cincinnati Bengals and Buffalo Bills have met Kansas City multiple times in the postseason, with the former being the only one to beat them en route to a Super Bowl appearance.
The Miami Dolphins have the offensive juice to keep up with the Chiefs, though their defense will need to get better if they want to be considered a bigger threat.
Lastly, the Houston Texans caught the league by storm in 2023 and bolstered their roster in the offseason to give themselves a legitimate shot at getting to the Super Bowl.
