The Atlanta Falcons are Interested in Re-Signing a Pro Bowler.

Last season, the Atlanta Falcons faced challenges with their pass rush, ranking 21st in sacks at 42 and 16th in pressures with 143. While their defensive tackles showed promise, the defensive ends lacked experience and playing time. Head coach Raheem Morris emphasized the need to strengthen their defensive line, acknowledging the impact of players like Grady and David on the interior and the potential for improvement with the addition of young talents or seasoned veterans.

Morris indicated a desire for another high-quality player along the defensive line, specifically targeting a defensive end. The team expressed interest in bringing back a veteran like Calais Campbel with Morris praising Campbell’s football character and impressive career. The Falcons successfully signed Campbell to a one-year, $7 million contract, recognizing his contributions as he ranked highly in various defensive categories last season.

Currently, the Falcons roster includes two inexperienced defensive ends, Zach Harrison and Demone Harris. Harrison, a third-round pick last season, showed promise with his performance, while Harris, entering his seventh year in the NFL, has had a less consistent career.

Campbell, despite being 37 years old and entering his 17th NFL season, brings a wealth of experience and a decorated career, boasting impressive statistics and accolades. However, the Falcons must navigate their cap space, with approximately $6 million available, to accommodate Campbell’s contract. Whether Campbell will remain with the Falcons next season remains uncertain, although he did play for the team in the previous season.
