Former NFL player Donte Whitner has expressed his belief that the Buffalo Bills
will sorely miss Stefon Diggs this season, considering him the player whose absence will be most keenly felt. Whitner shared his perspective on the “Up & Adams” Podcast hosted by Kay Adams, stating that Diggs’ departure will have an immediate impact on the team. This commentary came in response to Adams’ inquiry regarding which offseason departure would have the greatest effect on the Bills. Diggs’ recent trade to the Houston Texans came as a surprise to many Buffalo fans, with the Bills acquiring a 2025 second-round draft pick in exchange for Diggs.
During the previous season, Diggs played a pivotal role in the Bills’ offense, amassing impressive stats with 107 receptions for 1,183 yards and eight touchdowns. His departure, coupled with the loss of wide receiver Gabe Davis to the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency, leaves a notable void in Buffalo’s receiving corps.
According to Whitner, Diggs was a dependable target for Bills quarterback Josh Allen, known for his ability to make plays whenever the ball came his way. Whitner also highlighted Diggs’ consistent threat of surpassing 100 receiving yards in every game, further underlining his significance to the team’s offensive strategy.
Despite acknowledging Diggs’ on-field contributions, Whitner pointed out that some players within the Bills’ locker room may not miss the reported drama associated with the talented wide receiver.
Looking ahead to the 2024 season, Whitner emphasized that the Bills’ success will heavily rely on Allen’s decision-making and his ability to maintain his health in the absence of Diggs.
