Blake Griffin, formerly a prominent player for the LA Clippers, spent the previous season with the Boston Celtics, where he served as a valuable asset coming off the bench, offering versatility as a big man and leadership within the team. Although Griffin may not possess the star status he once held, his impact on Boston last season was notable, extending beyond his on-court performance.
In a recent installment of Pardon My Take, Celtics guards Payton Pritchard and Derrick White disclosed that they have been fervently urging Griffin to return to the team.
Presently unaffiliated with any team, Griffin has been residing in Los Angeles with his family, placing their well-being as his top priority. When questioned about this matter, Celtics head coach Joe Mazzulla disclosed that Griffin had informed him at the conclusion of the previous season that his family held utmost importance to him. This explains Griffin’s decision not to renew his contract with Boston.
While Griffin hasn’t completely dismissed the idea of returning to the NBA, he’s presently prioritizing his family and children over another opportunity to pursue a championship. Although the Celtics are keen on welcoming Griffin back, the likelihood of his NBA comeback this season appears slim.
