Reading FC’s forgotten former winger signs with Morecambe
Brandon Barker, a forgotten former Reading winger, has signed with League Two Morecambe till the end of the season.
The former Manchester City prodigy, now 27, made four appearances for the Royals in 2022 during a three-month stint.
The former England Under-20 international has played for Rotherham United, Hibernian, and Rangers in a career that has yet to match his early potential.
The wideman, who scored once in 17 appearances for Cypriot club Omonia, has joined Shrimps for the remaining 20 League Two games.
“I’m absolutely delighted, I can’t wait to get going and hopefully I can really help the team,” he added.
“The boys are obviously performing well this year, with a few games in hand and not far from the playoffs, so I’m hoping to bring my experience in and assist the club climb the table.
Meanwhile, Cesare Casadei, a former Reading loanee, has been recalled from his loan spell with Championship leaders Leicester City to return to Chelsea.
The Italy Under-21 international scored once in 15 Reading appearances last season before playing 25 games for the Foxes in the first half of this season.
