Former Titans head coach scheduled to interview with Panthers

Former Tennessee Titans head coach Mike Vrabel is set to interview with the Carolina Panthers and the Atlanta Falcons for their head coaching positions, according to an anonymous source. Vrabel, who had a 54-45 record in six seasons with the Titans but was recently fired after consecutive losing seasons, is exploring coaching opportunities with both teams.

The Panthers, coming off a challenging 2-15 season, are conducting interviews with other candidates as well. Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dave Canales and Los Angeles Rams defensive coordinator Raheem Morris are reported to have second interviews for the Panthers’ head coaching job. Panthers defensive coordinator Ejiro Evero has also undergone a second interview.

Dave Canales, previously associated with recently promoted Panthers director of football operations and general manager Dan Morgan during their time with the Seattle Seahawks, is a Super Bowl-winning offensive coordinator with the Buccaneers. Raheem Morris, with experience as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and interim head coach for the Falcons, has won two Super Bowls as an assistant coach.

Ejiro Evero, who worked under Morris as the Rams secondary coach and passing game coordinator in 2021 and served as the Denver Broncos defensive coordinator in 2022, has interviewed with both the Panthers and the Falcons.

The Panthers had previously conducted virtual interviews with multiple candidates, including Brian Callahan, who was recently hired by the Titans to replace Mike Vrabel. Other candidates interviewed include Bobby Slowik, Dan Quinn, Mike Macdonald, Todd Monken, Frank Smith, and Chris Tabor. The Panthers are currently navigating a challenging situation, having finished the 2023 season with a 2-15 record and lacking a first-round draft pick in 2024 despite finishing with the league’s worst record.
