Aston Villa Turn Down West Ham United Approach For 20 Years

Aston Villa have turned down a loan approach from West Ham United for Jhon Duran, yet speculation about a departure continues to persist.
According to The Athletic, Aston Villa have rebuffed an approach from West Ham for Jhon Duran. The Hammers were eager to take the 20-year-old Colombian international on loan as rumours of an exit from the club persist for the young forward.

Jhon Duran: "Milan and Chelsea interest? They are great clubs, but..."

Aston Villa rejected the West Ham loan approach for Jhon Duran.
West Ham are active in the market to reinforce their attacking setup, with David Moyes optimistic about landing at least one forward player this month. They have been perenially linked with Serhou Guirassy, but nothing has moved forward in the case of the Stuttgart forward.

Now, they appear to have set sights on Aston Villa’s Jhon Duran, with speculation that Unai Emery wants to sell the forward. The Hammers have now seen a loan approach turned down by the Birmingham-based club, although their overall stance on the 20-year-old Colombian international remains unknown.

West Ham might have sensed an opportunity to snap up Duran this window, although they are only prepared to offer a loan move with a possible option to buy in the summer. Villa may yet seek an exit for the 20-year-old forward, but they might want a full sale this month rather than a loan move.

West Ham are not flush with cash having made some big signings in the summer window. Hence, with David Moyes operating on a small budget, a loan move for the Colombian forward might have made sense to him, as the Hammers desperately need attacking reinforcements this month.

Will Jhon Duran leave Aston Villa this month?
Despite Aston Villa turning down a loan approach from West Ham, there are chances that Duran might still depart depending on various factors. The 20-year-old wants to play regularly, something he may not achieve at Villa this season, with Ollie Watkins playing in his role as Emery’s first-choice striker.

Secondly, Aston Villa are eager to cash in now rather than send him out on loan. They are already chasing Middlesbrough’s Morgan Rodgers, who could fill the gap left by Duran should he leave the club this month. Emery’s side are also interested in Armando Broja, who the manager might see as a replacement for the 20-year-old.

West Ham might still return with a new proposal, while Chelsea are also keeping tabs on Duran this month. Despite Villa’s current stance, if they manage to bring in a new forward, Emery might sanction a sale of the Colombian forward.
