Lakers lands much-needed shooter in Dejounte Murray trade – Report..

According to all accounts, Lakers and Hawks management have been in contact for some time about a potential Dejounte Murray trade, and as conversations continue, the possibility of an expanded deal framework has become a focal point in the media.

According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Hawks are actively shopping Murray, causing an NBA executive to make a more lucrative deal if the Hawks insist on obtaining Lakers guard Austin Reaves.

ESPN’s Zach Lowe recently appeared on “NBA Today” and revealed views from one NBA executive, picturing a convoluted deal in which the Lakers might capture not only Dejounte Murray but also sharpshooter Bogdan Bogdanovich, addressing the team’s critical need for more shooting.

According to the unidentified official, the Lakers would need to include Rui Hachimura, D’Angelo Russell, and further pick compensation.

However, implementing such a complicated contract offers hurdles, particularly given the Lakers’ financial limits, which include being above the tax and approaching the hard cap, as highlighted by ESPN’s Bobby Marks.

Deals become more complex as more stakeholders join in, making discussions difficult. The Hawks remain keen on including Austin Reaves in the deal, but the Lakers are unlikely to let him leave.

Wojnarowski stressed that the Hawks want a significant return for Murray. The Lakers, because to limited draft capital, can only provide one first-round pick in any in-season trade, either in 2029 or 2030.

Meanwhile, LA could consider expanding the trade for Dejounte Murray at a lower cost. According to The Athletic’s John Hollinger, the Hawks are eager to offload additional big contracts, which might include Clint Capela or De’Andre Hunter in a deal for Murray. Hollinger said that Murray’s trade worth is still being discussed, as is the prospect of integrating other significant players such as Capela and Hunter.

The Hawks, who are encumbered by Capela and Hunter contracts, consider Murray’s contract as a key asset in facilitating a trade involving these players. The Hawks have engaged in trade talks to dump these contracts, with the Lakers potentially profiting from the Hawks’ desire to reshape their roster.
