Staff at Newcastle are beginning to think they could need to sell a player for £40 million shortly.

Newcastle United has now been informed that in order to finance a whole roster revamp, they will need to think about moving one of their marquee players.

The owners of Newcastle are incredibly wealthy and would give anything to help the team, but the Premier League’s tough FFP regulations prevent them from doing so.

According to a recent iNews article, the Magpies may need to think about offloading a player like Bruno Guimaraes, who would fetch a substantial salary that they could use to bolster the team.

For Newcastle, Bruno would be a major loss.
It goes without saying that Bruno is a key component of Eddie Howe’s Newcastle team, and the team will have a hard time finding a player quite like him.

His strongest attributes are his incredible press resistance, his ability to continuously find space in confined areas, and his ability to hold the ball under pressure—qualities that very few midfielders in the world, let alone the league, possess.

Even though it is really annoying, supporters realize that at some point the team will have to let go of players because the deadwood won’t generate large enough revenue to support them.

However, since joining the team two years ago, Bruno has developed somewhat of a cult following in the Northeast, and it’s hard to watch someone go—not only when they’re a terrific player, but also when there’s a deep bond between them and the fans.

Newcastle is almost at its FFP cap.

The report further states that after spending about £300 million on transfers since the takeover was finalized, the club feels as though they have reached their financial ceiling.

This indicates that they are thoroughly examining any business agreements they can reach to supplement the budget with a little more money, but even that won’t be sufficient.

Whether it’s Bruno or another marketable commodity like Alexander Isak or Sven Botman, the decision will ultimately come down to who is prepared to pay what for them both. It will ultimately come down to a heartbreaking departure.
