Queens Park Rangers brings in former player to resolve significant issue..

According to The Mirror, Queens Park Rangers hope to sign former striker Chris Martin this month when his short-term contract with Bristol Rovers expires.

This season, the Championship side has struggled in front of goal, as they are joint-lowest scorers in the division with Sheffield Wednesday. As a result, it’s no surprise that the Hoops are in the midst of a relegation battle, sitting 23rd in the table and four points from safety.

Marti Cifuentes was chosen as manager of QPR shortly after Gareth Ainsworth’s resignation in October, and the club experienced a brief period of success, losing only one of his first seven matches. However, they have only one point in their previous five league games and were eliminated from the FA Cup by Bournemouth last weekend.

Lyndon is now the club’s highest striker this season, with four, and signing a new attacker is high on the list this month. Goals are critical to their survival prospects, and it is stated that they may return to a familiar face to settle their difficulties in front of the goal.

Chris Martin, 35, is presently playing in League One after joining Bristol Rovers on a short-term contract in September. His departure from the second-tier club at the end of last season made the veteran available as a free agent, and his stay at Memorial Stadium has been fruitful, with eight goals in 19 appearances, four of which came in his past two league outings.

His current contract will expire this month, and Rovers are anxious to keep him, but The Mirror reports that QPR would like to bring him back to West London. Interestingly, his entrance at Loftus Road occurred after his departure from Bristol City, with the article saying the Robins are eager for a reunion to help their play-off campaign.

Aside from the Championship duo, an unknown League One team vying for promotion is reportedly exploring a move.

Speaking with Bristol Live last month, the former Scotland international addressed the subject, saying:

“The situation has not changed. Obviously, a little happy tonight after scoring a couple of goals against Charlton Athletic.

“As a striker, I believe that enhances your situation. I’m not sure when my contract finishes. January’s twenty-something, whenever that was. I genuinely don’t remember the exact date, but nothing has changed. No words. I will continue to do my work and see what happens.

For the time being, Martin is still a Bristol Rovers player and is likely to feature when the Gas visit Barnsley on Saturday.
