Fabio Carvalho opts for Hull City.
Leeds may have looked to Liverpool’s Fabio Carvalho, who was recalled from RB Leipzig owing to a lack of playing time, for a ‘number 10’ role behind the striker.
Fabrizio Romano stated in early January that Leeds, Southampton, and Hull City were interested in signing the Portuguese prodigy.
However, the Tigers have clinched the deal, signing Carvalho for the balance of the season with the guarantee of consistent playing time.
As is traditional, a humorous social media announcement was made for Carvalho’s arrival at Hull City, with Liam Rosenior’s club taking a dig at Leeds in the process.
Editing footage from a Blind Date gameshow film, Leeds are the butt of the joke as ‘Carvalho’ rejects them and Southampton in favour of Hull, with Patrick Bamford also featured.
It’s a pretty entertaining clip that teases us and Southampton, but it’s an unusual shout when it’s clear it was about playing time.
Carvalho may not be included in either our or Russell Martin’s lineups, therefore his decision to play for Hull was always correct.
That does not detract from the fact that it is a significant signing for them, as it might be the difference between them making the top six under Rosenior.
