Sheffield Wednesday and Charlton Athletic ‘in serious talks’ over Rotherham United ace..

Hammers manager David Moyes does not seem to have the 23-year-old in his plans, since he has not yet used him in the Premier League this year.

The Star claims that Wednesday has been given permission to talk with the former youth international for the Republic of Ireland.

It is reported that he had discussions with several teams, Charlton Athletic among them. This transfer window, the Addicks made bolstering their midfield a top priority, bringing in Tyreeq Bakisnon from the Owls and Lewis Fiorini from Manchester City.

Coventry is reportedly eager to join the Owls permanently rather than just temporarily, and West Ham is reportedly amenable to selling him.

Along with Wednesday’s competitors in the struggle for Championship survival, Coventry is reportedly attracting attention from League One and Dutch clubs.

Although Coventry has been associated with West Ham since the start of his professional career, he has spent the majority of his senior football career playing away from the club. His most recent loan outing from the team was with Rotherham United in South Yorkshire.
