Negotiations are ongoing between West Ham and Wolves regarding a move for striker Danny Ings, sources have told Football Insider.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (8 January) that the Irons want a loan fee for the 31-year-old and will also want Gary O’Neil’s side fund his wages for the duration of any potential arrangement.
However, it is believed West Ham are keen on signing a striker of their own and will not allow an exit for Ings unless a replacement is acquired.
The former Aston Villa forward has started just four games for David Moyes’ team across all competitions in the 2023-24 campaign and is yet to score or assist this term.
Football Insider learned on Monday (8 January) that West Ham boss Moyes and his recruitment department are working overtime to add a new striker to the squad this month.
It is reported both Montpellier star Akor Adams and Paris Saint-Germain ace Hugo Ekitike are both on the radar for the London side.
The Irons are anxious for striking reinforcements this month after an injury setback for Michail Antonio and allowed Gianluca Scamacca to leave without a replacement last summer.
West Ham are currently without top scorer Mohammed Kudus, who joined the club from Ajax last summer and has lead the line at times for Moyes’ side.
Ings has failed to fill the vacuum left by Antonio and Scamacca this season despite joining West Ham from Aston Villa 12 months ago.
The Hammers sit sixth in the Premier League table ahead of their next top-flight encounter against Sheffield United on 21 January.
Moyes’ side will also need striking reinforcements ahead of the Europa League’s knockout stage, which takes off in March.
