Doctor: Aston Villa ace to be out for weeks with suspected Grade 2 muscle injury in thigh..

Aston Villa defender Lucas Digne might be out until early February owing to a thigh injury, according to Dr Rajpal Brar.

The injury expert says that it could be a muscular ailment that has been holding him out and it appears like a Grade 2 tear.

Unai Emery placed a three-week schedule for his comeback at the end of December and there has been no additional information from the club since then.

Speaking about this issue, Dr Brar, a doctor in physical therapy and a sports scientist, told Villa News:

“Thigh injury can mean a number of things – hip flexors, quadriceps, combination, etc – so it’s difficult to say what the exact injury is.

“If it’s muscular which it potentially is, it sounds like a Grade 2 tear out of 4 in terms of severity.

“No special steps will be taken for ensuring no setback is faced during recovery as that’s part of the normal rehab process.

“Early February could be a likely return if all goes well.“

Digne has been the first-choice left-back for Villa this season, stepping up in the absence of Alex Moreno.

The Spaniard was injured at the start of the season which saw the France international stepping up to deliver on the left.

This season, he’s made 18 appearances in the Premier League and the FA Cup and brief winter break will guarantee that he does not miss as many games as he typically would have.

In other Aston Villa news, a Sky Sports commentator has savaged a first-team player and dubbed him “Foolish” following what he did recently.
