Leam Richardson’s honest admission on future of Rotherham player after Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Norwich, and West Brom links

Leam Richardson’s candid assessment of the Rotherham player’s future following connections to Ipswich, Middlesbrough, Norwich, and West Brom

This month, Wolves have the option to recall and loan Dexter Lembikisa to another team.

Dexter Lembikisa is on loan at Rotherham United, but Wolves have the authority to summon him back and maybe send him to a higher-division Championship team.

The manager of Rotherham, Leam Richardson, acknowledges that Wolves have all the power and is unable to offer any guarantees on Lembikisa’s future.
Lembikisa’s departure would be devastating for Rotherham, who are already having defensive problems and need quality signings to increase their chances of staying in the league.

Dexter Lembikisa - Defender - First Team - Rotherham United

Leam Richardson, the manager of Rotherham United, has acknowledged that Wolves are in charge and have the ability to call up highly sought-after defender Dexter Lembikisa, who has been connected to Blackburn Rovers, Ipswich Town, Middlesbrough, Norwich City, and West Bromwich Albion.

The 20-year-old, who played more than 2,000 minutes of football and made 27 appearances across all competitions, was brought in by the Millers during the summer on a season-long loan from another team. Richardson has since taken over as the team’s manager after Matt Taylor.

But there are doubts about Lembikisa’s immediate future. Many of Rotherham’s Championship opponents were eager to sign the defender on loan for the second half of the 2023–24 season, according to a TEAMtalk report from late December.

Blackburn, Ipswich, Boro, Norwich, and West Brom are rumored to have discussed a possible January transfer with Wolves, who are reportedly willing to recall him and loan him to a team further up the second division standings.

Wolves have the option to give him another call.

Lembikisa did not let up in Friday night’s FA Cup third-round 1-0 loss to Premier League team Fulham at Craven Cottage.

After the match, Richardson spoke with Football League World and acknowledged that his parent club had final say over the right-back’s future. However, he was unable to provide any certainty.

When asked about the future of the Jamaican international, he responded, “I would rather not talk about certain people. He plays for the Wolves, so they can give him a call back if they so choose.”

Richardson continued by expressing his optimism that good news on the incomings will arrive soon.

“This time, this month, brings emotion to everyone,” he stated. Each and every individual and football team. We’re not any different; going forward, we do need it, so we’re working hard to try and add quality and bodies to the group we have.

“We represent ourselves extremely well everytime we take the football pitch, no matter who the opposition is, but we’re very aware we are low on numbers and we need quality adding to the group.”
